FDA Suspends Blinkit's Food Licence in Malad West Over Lapses

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspended the food licence of Blink Commerce Pvt Ltd, the company operating quick-commerce service Blinkit, following the discovery of serious food-safety and hygiene violations at its facility in Malad West, Mumbai.

The regulatory action followed an inspection conducted by FDA officials on August 7 at the company's premises. The facility is located at Gala No. A-03, Plot Nos. 38, 39 and 40, on the ninth floor of Sarvodaya Bhuvan along Ramchandra Lane in Malad West.

Inspectors flagged multiple safety and hygiene lapses during the visit, prompting the FDA to suspend the facility's food licence with immediate effect.

Under the terms of the suspension, the Malad West facility is completely barred from selling, distributing, or conducting any food business operations for the duration of the suspension period as state authorities increase scrutiny on the quick-commerce sector.
