FDA Suspends Food Licence of Ayub’s Eatery in Fort Over Safety Violations

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licence of South Mumbai's well-known eatery Ayub’s, located in the Fort area, following an inspection that uncovered serious hygiene, food storage, and food safety violations.

The regulatory action followed an inspection conducted by officials on August 22. The eatery operates on the ground floor of the Sassoon Building situated on Dr VB Gandhi Marg in Fort.

The inspection of the restaurant premises was carried out under the guidance of Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe as part of ongoing food safety enforcement measures across the city.

During the examination of the premises, officials identified critical lapses in handling and maintenance standards. Among the primary violations observed was the unsafe practice of storing raw and cooked food items together without any segregation.

Citing the severe risks posed by the lack of compliance with established food safety and hygiene protocols, the FDA moved to suspend the establishment's licence.
