FDA Suspends Licences of Six Mumbai Eateries Including Flint and Waarsa in Nariman Point

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food business licences of six restaurants and eateries across Mumbai, including the Flint & Waarsa restaurant in the Nariman Point area of south Mumbai. The enforcement action, which was reported on 30 June 2026, was taken after official inspections uncovered multiple severe safety and hygiene violations at the establishments.

According to the regulatory authorities, the inspections of the eateries revealed several critical issues that compromised food safety. Among the key findings that led to the suspensions were unhygienic conditions in the kitchens, the storage and potential use of expired food items, active pest infestations, and various other regulatory violations.

As a result of the licence suspensions, the operations of all six targeted eateries have been halted. The Maharashtra FDA took this decisive action as part of a broader, statewide enforcement drive. This ongoing drive is specifically aimed at ensuring strict food safety and maintaining full compliance with established food regulations across the state of Maharashtra.

One of the key establishments named in the enforcement action is Flint & Waarsa, located in the prominent Nariman Point area of south Mumbai. While Flint & Waarsa was specifically identified, the action also impacted five other restaurants and eateries located throughout different parts of Mumbai.

The statewide enforcement drive by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration is designed to target non-compliant food businesses and address public health concerns. By focusing on kitchen hygiene, food storage practices, and regulatory adherence, the FDA aims to protect consumers from the risks associated with unhygienic food preparation, pest infestations, and expired products.

The suspension of the food business licences serves as a direct consequence for the eateries failing to meet the required state health and safety benchmarks. The Maharashtra FDA's inspections are part of a continuous effort to ensure that all food establishments in Mumbai and the wider state adhere strictly to the law.

With their operations now halted, the affected eateries cannot legally function until they address the violations. The Maharashtra FDA continues to monitor food safety standards across the region as part of its regulatory mandate.
