FIR Filed At Sahar Police Station After $250 Stolen From Bag On Mumbai-Dubai Flight

The Sahar police on September 3 registered a case against an unidentified person after a 40-year-old woman reported that 250 US dollars were stolen from her checked-in baggage during a journey from Mumbai International Airport to Dubai. The theft occurred aboard SpiceJet Airlines flight YM9UF on August 26.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant, Raisun Ansari, is a homemaker residing in Mira Road with her family. Ansari and her friend, Shagufta Khan, had arrived at Mumbai International Airport at around 10.30 am on August 26 to board their scheduled flight to Dubai.

During the check-in process at the airport, Ansari and Khan placed foreign currency worth Rs 12,500 each inside a single black-coloured bag. The bag was then locked and handed over to airline personnel as checked luggage before they boarded the flight.

The flight landed in Dubai later that afternoon, and the passengers collected their baggage at around 4.30 pm. However, upon retrieving the black bag from the carousel, they noticed that the lock had been broken. When Ansari inspected the contents, she found that the foreign currency was missing from inside.

According to the FIR, Ansari had kept a total of 250 US dollars in the bag, which she valued in her complaint at around Rs 25 lakh. Ansari subsequently approached the authorities at Sahar police station to report the missing cash and broken luggage.

The Sahar police registered a case against an unidentified suspect under Section 303(2), which covers theft, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
