Fire damages commercial premises on Charkop Road in Kandivali West

A Level-I fire broke out at a commercial premises on Charkop Road, opposite Hindustan Naka in Kandivali (West), Mumbai, early on Wednesday morning. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) responded to the emergency, successfully extinguishing the blaze after nearly three-and-a-half hours of active firefighting. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

The fire was first reported to the authorities at 5:09 am. Recognizing the scale of the incident, the Mumbai Fire Brigade declared it a Level-I blaze shortly after at 5:20 am.

According to fire officials, the flames were confined to a loft area spread over approximately 5,000 square feet on each floor of the commercial building. The fire quickly spread through the electrical wiring, electrical installations, and electric motors housed within the commercial premises.

The damage to the interior of the commercial property was extensive. Office furniture, records, and computer accessories were all destroyed in the fire. Additionally, packing machines and laser machines were lost, along with stored stocks of pens and corrugated boxes that were kept in the loft area.

The blaze also affected the exterior of the property. A temporary monsoon shed located in the open area of the premises, constructed from tarpaulin and bamboo structures, was severely damaged. An electric bike parked nearby, along with other stored materials in the open space, was also destroyed by the flames.

A team from the Mumbai Fire Brigade worked continuously to bring the situation under control. The firefighting operation concluded when the fire was completely extinguished by 8:35 am on Wednesday morning.

While the fire caused significant material damage to the office equipment, stock, and structures, no individuals were harmed during the incident. The exact cause of the fire is currently unknown and has yet to be ascertained by the authorities.
