Fire destroys private college auditorium and battery room in Mira Bhayander
A major fire broke out at a private college in the Mira Bhayander township of Thane district on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The early morning blaze completely destroyed the educational institution's auditorium and a battery backup room. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The fire erupted at around 6:00 AM at the educational institute in Mira Bhayander, according to Chief Fire Officer Prakash Borade. Following the outbreak of the fire, emergency services were alerted to the situation at the private college in Thane.
A significant firefighting force was deployed to the spot to control the emergency. The response team included eight fire engines and four water tankers, which were sent immediately to the private college to combat the flames.
Firefighters engaged in active firefighting operations at the scene. The teams battled the blaze for nearly one-and-a-half hours before they were able to bring it under control.
According to officials, the fire caused extensive damage to the private college's property. The institution's auditorium was completely destroyed by the flames. Additionally, the college's battery backup room was also entirely destroyed in the fire.
Despite the scale of the fire and the destruction of the auditorium and battery backup room, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported from the spot. Chief Fire Officer Prakash Borade and the responding fire teams successfully contained the fire without any casualties.
The incident occurred in the Mira Bhayander township, located within the Thane district of Maharashtra. The fire department deployed a total of eight fire engines and four water tankers to manage the crisis, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished after the one-and-a-half-hour battle.
