Fitness Trainer Arjunjit Garewal Assaulted in Bandra West Road Rage

Fitness trainer Arjunjit Garewal, 39, was allegedly assaulted with fists and kicks and his car vandalised following a road-rage incident near Bandra Lake on S.V. Road in Bandra West around midnight on Sunday. The Bandra police registered a case against three unidentified persons on Sunday following the attack.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Garewal, a resident of Juhu who is well known in the fitness industry, was travelling towards Mahim with his wife, Bhakti, late on Saturday night. Around midnight, while he was driving on S.V. Road near Sahil Hotel, an XUV came in front of his vehicle. Garewal overtook the XUV and continued driving forward.

The driver of the XUV allegedly became angry, drove parallel to Garewal’s car, abused him, and made threatening gestures. Six to seven people were travelling inside the XUV at the time. Garewal ignored the occupants, but the XUV driver allegedly overtook his car three to four times before blocking his path near Bandra Lake.

One occupant wearing a white shirt allegedly got out of the XUV, abused Garewal, and asked him to step out of his car. When Garewal stepped out, he was allegedly assaulted with fists and kicks. Two associates who arrived on two-wheelers also allegedly joined the assault. One of the individuals tried to hit Garewal with a baseball bat, but Garewal defended himself against the blow.

During the altercation, another accused individual allegedly used a hockey stick to damage the front, rear, and driver-side windows of Garewal's vehicle. Garewal’s frightened wife then got out of the vehicle, following which the accused persons fled the location in the XUV.

Garewal noted the registration number of the XUV as MH 47 BB 9939 and approached the Bandra police to lodge a complaint. A case was registered on Sunday against three unidentified persons under Sections 115(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant provisions.
