Former Deputy Mayor's Son Rahul Ashok Patil Dies After Tree Falls In Mira-Bhayandar

A 35-year-old man has died after a coconut tree was uprooted by heavy rains and strong winds and fell on him in the Sadanand Nagar area of Mira-Bhayandar in Thane district.

The victim, Rahul Ashok Patil, passed away on Friday, two days after the incident occurred on Wednesday evening.

Patil, who was a resident of Murdhagaon, was the son of a former deputy mayor of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC).

According to district officials, the accident took place while Patil was riding his motorcycle through Sadanand Nagar. The area was experiencing severe weather, characterized by heavy downpours and gusty winds. During the storm, a coconut tree was uprooted and collapsed directly onto his motorcycle.

The impact of the falling tree caused Patil to sustain severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted in a critical condition.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Patil battled for his life for two days before succumbing to his injuries on Friday.

District authorities confirmed that this tragic death marks the very first rain-related casualty recorded in the city of Mira-Bhayandar during the current monsoon season.
