Four Arrested for Mugging Man Inside Carter Road Mangroves in Bandra

Four men have been arrested by the Khar Police for allegedly assaulting and robbing a 28-year-old man who entered the mangroves at Carter Road in Bandra to relieve himself on the night of August 27.

The complainant, a native of Uttar Pradesh who works at a salon in Juhu, had visited Carter Road for work around 10:30 pm. After finishing his work, he decided to take a stroll along the promenade and subsequently ventured into the dark mangrove patch.

While inside, four men approached him, hurled expletives, and physically assaulted him. The attackers forced him to the ground, where two of them pinned his hands while the other two punched him and took his mobile phone from his trouser pocket. When the victim resisted, the assailants threatened to throw him into the sea.

The victim sustained injuries to his face, elbow, and back during the assault. In addition to his mobile phone, the attackers stole his Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, and Rs 600 in cash. When the victim attempted to raise an alarm as they were leaving, the men pushed him away and fled the spot.

Following the incident, the victim approached the Khar Police Station to lodge a formal complaint. Police teams were formed immediately to trace the suspects, leading to the arrest of all four accused within a few hours. Investigators identified the arrested individuals as footpath dwellers residing in Dharavi and Bandra.
