Four Booked for Extorting ₹20 Lakh from Virar Builder Moreshwar Baria

The Arnala Coastal Police have registered an extortion case against four individuals for allegedly demanding ₹20 lakh from builder Moreshwar Baria in Virar West.

According to the police complaint, Baria owns a residential building named Ramesh Darshan located in the Agashi locality of Virar West. The primary accused, identified as Arun Singh, along with three of his associates, allegedly threatened the builder with severe consequences if the extortion money was not paid.

The accused reportedly warned Baria that they would file a false complaint against him and ensure a criminal case was lodged unless he handed over ₹20 lakh. Facing threats, the builder initially paid an amount of ₹5 lakh to the accused.

However, Singh and his associates continued to pressure and threaten Baria, demanding the payment of the remaining ₹15 lakh. Unable to endure the ongoing harassment, the builder approached the local authorities and submitted a formal complaint.

Following the complaint, the Arnala Coastal Police officially registered an extortion case against Arun Singh and his three associates. Police sources indicated that Singh has a history of similar offences and has previously faced several extortion cases registered against him.

Satish Nikam, Senior Police Inspector at the Arnala Coastal Police Station, confirmed the registration of the case and stated that an investigation into the matter is underway. Nikam added that no arrests have been made in connection with the case so far as police continue their probe into the incident.
