Four charged after mother and son assaulted over parking dispute in Mira-Bhayandar
On July 11, a 21-year-old man and his mother were brutally assaulted by four individuals following a minor parking dispute in the Patel Complex area of Mira-Bhayandar. The Kashimira Police have registered a case against the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 following the incident, which occurred at around 3:00 PM.
The victim, Mohammad Shafat Shahbaz Usmani, had returned to his residential society on a Burgman scooter with a friend. As he was parking the vehicle, Sultan Nasir Khan, a resident of the opposite Mevish Tower, confronted him. Khan reportedly told Usmani not to park there, claiming the space belonged to him.
According to the police complaint, the confrontation quickly escalated. Sultan slapped Usmani, while an unidentified youth pushed him to the ground. The two then kicked, punched, and thrashed the 21-year-old. During the assault, Sultan allegedly threatened Usmani, warning him that he would dig up his history and referencing his own reputation in Kurla.
Hearing her son's screams, Shabnam Usmani rushed to the scene to intervene. However, Sultan's father, Nasir Khan, and his brother, Altamash Khan, arrived to join the altercation. The four accused then began abusing and beating both the mother and son.
Sultan allegedly pushed Shabnam Usmani hard by her chest, causing her to fall. She sustained a severe injury to her ear, which resulted in bleeding and temporary hearing difficulties. Both victims were initially taken to a government hospital before being shifted to a private hospital in Kashimira, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Following the complaint filed by Mohammad Shafat Usmani, the Kashimira Police registered a case against Sultan Nasir Khan, Nasir Khan, Altamash Khan, and their unidentified accomplice. The charges were filed under Sections 74, 115(2), 351(2), 352, and 3(5) of the BNS 2023.
Local residents have alleged that Sultan Khan has been spreading terror in the locality by bringing in outsiders to threaten and fight with residents, leading to an atmosphere of fear in the neighbourhood.
