FSSAI Bans Sale of Everest and Laljee Godhoo Hing After Failing Quality Tests

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued Prohibition of Sale orders for Compounded Hing (asafoetida) manufactured by M/s Everest Food Products Private Limited and M/s Laljee Godhoo and Company, after laboratory testing revealed that the products were substandard.

The regulatory action follows inspections in Mumbai, where the food safety authority collected six varieties of raw hing from the LG Brand Unit in the city.

According to an official statement released on Saturday, laboratory analysis confirmed that all legal samples of Compounded Hing gathered during the inspections failed to meet required benchmarks and were categorized as substandard.

The FSSAI stated that the enforcement measures and sales bans were undertaken to protect consumers and ensure strict compliance with food safety standards.
