Gangster Anmol Bishnoi files plea to surrender in Salman Khan Bandra firing trial

Gangster Anmol Bishnoi has filed a plea before a Mumbai special court seeking to voluntarily surrender and join the ongoing trial regarding the April 2024 firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence in Bandra.
In the plea filed through his lawyers in June, Bishnoi stated his intention to join the judicial proceedings "in the interest of fair trial and in the interest of justice." He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in New Delhi under the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a separate case.
Because of his detention in New Delhi, Bishnoi requested the Mumbai court to direct the superintendent of Tihar Jail to produce him virtually via video-conference on a designated date. The plea noted that three prosecution witnesses have already been examined in his absence, making his participation urgent.
According to the plea, virtual production would expedite the trial and legal proceedings while preventing the misuse of the process of law. Special Judge S R Navander has directed the prosecution to file its response to the gangster's application.
The case stems from an incident on April 14, 2024, when two motorcycle-borne men fired shots outside Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. Mumbai Police subsequently arrested the alleged shooters, Vickykumar Gupta and Sagar Pal, along with others.
The police chargesheet named Anmol Bishnoi, his older brother Lawrence Bishnoi, and Rawtaram Swami as wanted accused. It also featured a transcript of an audio conversation on the Signal app, in which Anmol allegedly instructed Gupta to ride without a helmet and smoke a cigarette during the shooting to appear fearless.
The trial commenced in April 2026. Among the witnesses already examined are Salman Khan's personal bodyguard and a police guard.
