Goregaon residents demand action against late night drinking and illegal parking

Residents of Pandurang Wadi Cross Lanes 4 and 5 in Goregaon, Mumbai, have raised serious concerns and demanded government action to address ongoing issues of late-night drinking, smoking on footpaths, and illegal parking in their neighborhood. The persistent activities have reportedly caused significant noise, inconvenience, and traffic disruption for the local community.
According to local residents, groups of people frequently gather on the footpaths along Pandurang Wadi Cross Lanes 4 and 5 during the late-night hours. These gatherings, which involve open drinking and smoking, regularly continue until the wee hours of the morning. Residents reported that the late-night activity generates constant noise, disrupting the peace of the residential area.
In addition to the public drinking and smoking, residents highlighted a severe traffic issue centered around a local pan shop in the area. Motorists frequently stop at the shop to purchase cigarettes, parking their vehicles illegally along the narrow lane.
This illegal parking has led to regular traffic congestion, making it difficult for other vehicle owners and residents to navigate the lane. The combination of blocked roads and late-night disturbances has prompted community members to call for immediate intervention from authorities.
Pravin Rajput, a local resident experiencing the daily disruptions, expressed the frustration of the neighborhood. Rajput noted that people can regularly be found standing on the footpaths at night drinking and smoking until the early hours. He added that the motorists stopping at the pan shop block the narrow lane, causing significant inconvenience to other vehicle owners who use the route.
The complaints, which were highlighted on July 20, 2026, reflect the growing frustration among the suburban residents who feel their neighborhood is being disrupted. The residents have collectively called on the government and local administration to find a swift resolution to the situation. They are seeking measures to curb the late-night public drinking and smoking, as well as enforcement action against the illegal parking that continues to choke the narrow residential lanes of Goregaon.
