A ground-plus-one residential structure collapsed in the Malvani New Collector Compound in Mumbai's Malad West on Thursday morning, August 20, prompting emergency responders and local residents to launch a rescue and debris-clearing operation.

The collapse occurred near the New Anarkali Restaurant, sending a large volume of rubble across a narrow roadway in the neighbourhood. Visuals from the location captured chaotic scenes as local residents joined emergency workers to clear the debris and check the site for possible trapped occupants.

Teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade and local police rushed to the scene immediately after being alerted to the incident. Emergency personnel began assessing the stability of the surroundings while coordinating the removal of rubble from the street.

No casualties or injuries have been reported so far in connection with the incident. Officials have not confirmed whether anyone was inside the building at the time of the collapse.

The cause of the structural failure remains unknown. Authorities are expected to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the site and surrounding structures once debris removal is completed.
