Group Chases Nashik Family For 15 Kilometres And Attacks Car Near Bhavali Dam

A family of eight was verbally abused, chased for 15 kilometres, and had their car windows smashed with iron rods and wooden sticks near Bhavali Dam in Igatpuri, Nashik district, on Sunday, July 12. The violent confrontation began during a family outing when members of the family objected to an inappropriate remark directed at a female family member.

According to the complaint filed with the police, the Nashik-based family was returning from a picnic at the scenic Bhavali Dam when the confrontation began. Two men allegedly passed inappropriate remarks at the woman. When the family confronted the duo, the men verbally abused them before initially leaving the spot.

To prevent the situation from escalating further, the family decided to cut their picnic short and leave the area. However, the men returned with a larger group. The group of men, who were initially bike-borne, followed the family as they drove away.

The suspects pursued the family in a white car, launching a terrifying chase that lasted for about 15 kilometres. During the pursuit, the attackers hit the family's vehicle using iron rods and wooden sticks, which resulted in the car's windows being completely smashed.

Despite the attack and the high-speed chase, the family of eight managed to drive through the ordeal and reach the safety of Nashik. They immediately went to the Ambad Police Station to report the incident and lodge an official complaint against the attackers.

Following the complaint, the Ambad Police registered a criminal case and initiated an investigation. Officers have already detained a few suspects for questioning in connection with the attack.

The incident has sparked significant safety concerns at Bhavali Dam. The site is a highly popular monsoon tourist destination that attracts thousands of visitors every year from nearby cities, including Nashik, Mumbai, and Pune.
