Harshvardhan Sapkal Accuses BJP and RSS of Ram Mandir Donation Irregularities

On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Harshvardhan Sapkal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of exploiting the Ram Mandir issue for political gains. Speaking to the media in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the Congress leader alleged that there have been financial irregularities regarding the donations made for the temple's construction in Ayodhya.
Sapkal spoke on the matter during a press briefing held after a district-wise review meeting of the Marathwada division in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. During the briefing, the Maharashtra Congress chief claimed that the donations contributed by devotees for the Ram Mandir had been misused. He demanded that the RSS show the courage to act against those involved and expel the individuals responsible for the alleged financial misconduct from the organisation.
Beyond the temple donation controversy, Sapkal used the platform to intensify political opposition against the ruling BJP on multiple fronts. He criticised the BJP-led administration over ongoing farmers' issues and the recent occurrences of exam paper leaks. Sapkal also addressed the widespread political speculations regarding the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), or NCP (SP), and its potential move to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition.
