Hawk Perches on Passenger's Turban Aboard Mumbai Local Train on CST-Kalyan Route

Commuters aboard a crowded Mumbai local train travelling along the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST)-Kalyan route were left surprised after a hawk was spotted resting calmly on the turban of a female Nihang Sikh passenger.

The unusual occurrence was captured on August 15, 2026, inside a moving train compartment. A video recording of the encounter was filmed and shared on Instagram by user Akshay Palav, quickly drawing significant attention across social media platforms.

A 40-second clip of the journey showed the bird sitting steadily atop the passenger's turban as the suburban train travelled through the city. Surrounding passengers watched the scene with curiosity, and several pulled out their mobile phones to document the rare sight. The video clip has since accumulated more than 3.74 lakh views online.

The peaceful presence of the bird inside the crowded compartment prompted widespread interest among commuters and viewers. In Sikh tradition, the hawk or falcon, known as the baaz, carries historic and cultural significance. It is traditionally associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who is affectionately known as Chittian Bajanvala, representing sovereign authority, courage, and spiritual strength.
