Heavy Rain and Waterlogging Disrupt Travel in Bandra and Across Mumbai

Heavy rainfall on Saturday caused severe waterlogging and disrupted daily travel across Mumbai, including the Bandra commercial district, prompting authorities to advise caution as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) maintained a Red Alert for the region. The heavy downpour led to hazardous commuting conditions and widespread disruptions for local residents, commuters, and office-goers.
In Bandra, the heavy rain and subsequent waterlogging severely impacted the commercial district, making travel difficult for professionals commuting through the area. The flooding across the city continued to disrupt the daily lives of residents and posed significant challenges for commuters attempting to navigate the waterlogged streets.
Other parts of Mumbai also faced severe weather impacts. In South Mumbai, roads in the Fort area were submerged under water due to heavy waterlogging. To the north, the Vasai-Virar region witnessed severe flooding following an overnight downpour. In contrast, the King's Circle area experienced light rain on Saturday, even as the IMD kept the Red Alert active with forecasts of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
Despite the active Red Alert and forecasts of Orange Alerts for July 5 and July 6, some residents and visitors were seen gathering at the Gateway of India to enjoy the monsoon showers with their friends and families.
The heavy showers also extended to Navi Mumbai, which was similarly placed under a Red Alert by the IMD forecasting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. The Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) vegetable market in Navi Mumbai experienced severe waterlogging due to the continuous rainfall. Additionally, Sanpada reported severe waterlogging, which caused major inconveniences for daily commuters.
Amid the continuous rainfall and flooding across both Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, municipal authorities have urged citizens to remain extremely cautious. Residents have been advised to avoid any unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain activity to ensure their safety.
