Helicopter movements on the rooftop of The Westin Mumbai Garden City in Goregaon East have drawn widespread public attention, highlighted by video footage of an aircraft landing on and departing from the hotel's helipad. The rooftop facility, which is situated atop Commerce Tower-1 at the International Business Park within Oberoi Garden City, became the focal point of several videos captured from vantage points in the surrounding area.
In one widely circulated video, a young toddler was filmed watching with fascination as a helicopter approached the rooftop helipad, touched down, and subsequently lifted off into the sky. The footage captured the child's reaction as the chopper maneuvered above the neighborhood skyline, attracting lakhs of views across Instagram.
Another recording was taken by an employee working at the neighboring Morgan Stanley building. The woman reported counting seven private helicopters landing and taking off from the hotel's rooftop facility during the observed period, further fueling interest among onlookers.
An additional clip captured a close-up perspective of a sleek private helicopter idling on the rooftop before executing a smooth liftoff. As the camera pulled back to follow the ascending aircraft, the surrounding high-rise buildings and bumper-to-bumper traffic along the Western Express Highway were visible below.
The footage surprised multiple local residents, several of whom noted in online discussions that they were completely unaware the luxury hotel maintained an active rooftop helipad, despite having resided in the Goregaon East locality for years.
The helipad at The Westin Mumbai Garden City is primarily utilized for private aviation, accommodating corporate, VIP, and charter flights. Private charter flights may be arranged from the location for point-to-point travel, provided operators secure the requisite permissions and clearances from Air Traffic Control. The facility is not used for standard tourist joyrides, as commercial helicopter sightseeing tours across the city generally operate out of Juhu Aerodrome.
