Hillside Collapse Hits Kurla West Home During Late Night Gathering

A hillside collapsed onto a home in Kurla West during a late-night gathering, sending rocks and debris crashing down onto the occupants inside and triggering a rescue operation.

The incident occurred at the residence of Viket Yadav, where a group had gathered for a night out. The hill situated directly behind the home gave way, trapping those inside under falling rocks and rubble.

Local resident Inam Ansari was inside the house when the collapse took place and managed to survive. Ansari recounted the sudden impact of the landslide during the gathering.

"It was a night out at Viket’s house, and we were all at his place hanging out. The next thing we know, all those who were inside were stuck under the rocks. I don’t know how I am alive," Ansari said.

While Ansari survived the collapse, several others trapped beneath the debris did not make it. Rescue personnel initiated operations at the Kurla West chawl to extract those caught beneath the landslide.
