According to the weather department, the city and its surrounding suburban areas are expected to remain generally cloudy, with moderate showers likely at several places. Although widespread heavy downpours are not anticipated, isolated pockets may experience moderate to heavy spells accompanied by strong winds.
Wind speeds across the city are predicted to hover between 40 and 50 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching 50 to 60 kmph during intense spells of rain. On Monday morning, the minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 31 degrees Celsius.
August started on a wet note across Mumbai and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region, following moderate to heavy spells during the first few days of the month. The IMD expects light to moderate rainfall activity to continue throughout the remainder of the week.
Alongside the monsoon showers, the city recorded clean air conditions. Mumbai's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 30 on Monday morning, placing it firmly in the 'Good' category. Under standard classification guidelines, AQI readings between 0 and 50 are rated as 'Good', while values between 51 and 100 are designated as 'Moderate'.
