IMD Forecasts Moderate Rain for Mumbai With No Weekend Weather Alert

Mumbai experienced cloudy skies and gusty winds on Saturday as monsoon conditions persisted across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast moderate rainfall and thundershowers for Mumbai and its suburbs, confirming that no rain alert has been issued for the city over the weekend.

According to the weather department's forecast, the city is likely to see generally cloudy skies along with spells of moderate rain throughout the day. Although widespread heavy rainfall is not anticipated, isolated parts of Mumbai could witness moderate to heavy showers accompanied by occasional strong winds.

Wind speeds across Mumbai are expected to stay between 40 kmph and 50 kmph, with occasional gusts reaching between 50 kmph and 60 kmph during intense spells of rainfall. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature recorded on Saturday was 29 degrees Celsius.

With no official weather alert in place, authorities do not anticipate major rain-related disruptions across the city over the weekend. However, residents have been advised to exercise caution during sudden intense downpours, particularly in low-lying areas that are prone to waterlogging.

Alongside the rainfall, the ongoing monsoon activity has contributed to clean atmospheric conditions across the city. Official data showed that Mumbai's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 25 on Saturday morning, placing the city's air firmly in the 'Good' category.

Under standard AQI classifications, readings between 0 and 50 are categorized as 'Good', denoting clean air with minimal health risks for the general population. Readings from 51 to 100 are marked as 'Moderate', 101 to 200 as 'Poor', 201 to 300 as 'Unhealthy', and any reading exceeding 300 falls under the 'Severe' category.
