IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Thane With Heavy Rain Forecast for Thursday and Friday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Thane, forecasting heavy rainfall at isolated places across the district on Thursday and Friday. The alert was published by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, on Thursday, 13 August 2026, as the monsoon remains active over the Konkan region.

According to the weather bureau's district-wise forecast and warning, Thane is expected to experience heavy rainfall spells at isolated locations over the two-day period. The advisory forms part of a broader alert issued for multiple districts across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

In addition to Thane, a yellow alert has been put in place for Mumbai. The regional meteorology department noted that Mumbai is likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on Thursday, with conditions expected to ease into moderate rain on Friday.

Neighbouring Raigad district has been placed under a higher-intensity outlook. Weather officials reported that Raigad is likely to witness heavy rainfall at a few places on Thursday and at isolated places on Friday, followed by moderate rain in the days that follow.

To the north, Palghar district is likely to receive moderate rain over the next two days. The forecast indicates that rainfall in Palghar will subsequently taper off to light to moderate showers.

The forecasts from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai highlight active monsoon conditions persisting across the Konkan belt, affecting Thane alongside Mumbai, Raigad, and Palghar.
