IMD Maintains Orange Alert After Parts of Mumbai Record 150 mm Rain in 12 Hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) maintained an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Mumbai and other districts on July 2, 2026. The decision to keep the weather warning active came after parts of the city recorded 150 mm of rain within a 12-hour period.

The weather department had previously issued the orange alert for Mumbai and adjacent districts in anticipation of heavy downpours. The intense wet spell delivered significant precipitation, with cumulative rainfall reaching the 150 mm mark in several areas within half a day.

Following the heavy rainfall, the IMD kept the orange alert intact to warn of continued heavy precipitation across the region. The alert covers Mumbai and other districts as the wet weather persists.

Local authorities and residents are advised to remain alert to the weather conditions as the IMD continues to monitor the rainfall activity across Mumbai and the surrounding districts.
