IMD Reports Rising Temperatures and Dry Weather Across Mumbai and Konkan Belt

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Maharashtra recorded highly mixed weather conditions characterized by a weak monsoon, prolonged dry spells, and rising temperatures across several regions. According to the latest observations released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the dry weather was particularly prominent across the coastal Konkan belt, which includes Mumbai, Santacruz, Alibag, Ratnagiri, Panjim, and Dahanu, where most stations recorded no rainfall.

The state witnessed a sharp rise in temperatures across multiple regions due to the ongoing dry spell. The IMD reported that light to nil rainfall was the dominant feature across most of Maharashtra, with only isolated pockets reporting any measurable showers during the daily observation period.

In the Konkan belt, which typically receives heavy monsoon showers, the weather remained largely dry. Recording stations in Mumbai, Santacruz, Alibag, Ratnagiri, Panjim, and Dahanu reported zero or insignificant rainfall, marking a weak phase in the monsoon's progress along the coast.

The inland Marathwada region also remained mostly dry throughout Saturday, showing only scattered rainfall activity in a few areas. Among these isolated pockets, Dharashiv recorded 4 mm of rainfall. Parbhani registered 13 mm of rainfall, which was officially noted by the IMD as the highest rainfall recorded anywhere in the Marathwada region for the day.

The combination of weak monsoon activity and lack of rainfall has resulted in climbing temperatures across various districts, presenting a stark contrast to typical late June weather patterns in Maharashtra. The IMD's Saturday observations confirmed that the vast majority of the state experienced dry conditions with only minimal, scattered precipitation in a handful of locations.
