Incomplete Projects and Potholes Cause Severe Traffic Snarls in Bhiwandi
Traffic congestion across key stretches connecting Anjurphata, Mankoli, Pimplas, Kalyan, and Rajnoli in Bhiwandi has created severe daily delays for motorists. The growth of warehouses and logistics hubs, combined with narrow roads, deep potholes, and unfinished construction projects, has severely impaired traffic flow across the region.
The state highway stretch between Chinchoti, Anjurphata, and Mankoli, heavily used by freight vehicles entering Bhiwandi from Gujarat, is currently undergoing concreting and remains in poor condition. Vehicles face severe bottlenecks at Anjurphata, where the road narrows and forces traffic into a single-lane stretch beneath the railway line.
Pressure on the road network has been further compounded by warehouse clusters located at Rahnal, Purna, Kopar, Kalher, and Kasheli along the Bhiwandi-Thane Road. Vehicles stopped near warehouse entrances for traffic regulation frequently cause long queues on the Anjurphata-Kalher route, while narrow bridges over drains near Valgaon and Mankoli further reduce road width.
Major bottlenecks have formed at Mankoli Naka, where traffic heading towards Mumbai and Nashik converges. Further along the Mumbai-Nashik Highway, the incomplete flyover project at Pimplas forces vehicles travelling towards Nashik into a narrow section, creating extended queues. Similarly, Rajnoli Naka on Bhiwandi-Kalyan Road experiences frequent gridlock where vehicles from Nashik, Kalyan, Thane, and Bhiwandi meet, despite the presence of the nearby Kongaon Traffic Police Station.
Additional congestion has been reported near Gove Naka as vehicles turn towards Saravali MIDC. A narrow road section outside the Kongaon Gram Panchayat office causes queues that stretch back towards the creek bridge at Kongaon.
Narpoli Traffic Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Sable stated that police personnel are regularly deployed to manage traffic, but poor road conditions significantly contribute to the congestion. Sable noted that extensive potholes on the highway and deep craters on roads leading to industrial compounds heavily reduce vehicle speeds.
Motorists and local residents have urged authorities to implement long-term solutions, including dedicated alternative routes for heavy vehicles, road widening, prompt completion of the Pimplas flyover, and comprehensive traffic management plans at major intersections.
