Indian Railways Clarifies Saloon Coach On Train 12926 Was Privately Booked

On July 13, 2026, Indian Railways issued a clarification regarding a saloon coach attached to Train No. 12926 in Mumbai. The official statement debunked rumors circulating on social media that suggested the coach was an exclusive VIP or government saloon.
According to railway officials, the coach was not a government or VIP saloon allotted to any public authority. Instead, it was a commercially booked saloon hired by a private party through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
The statement from railway officials specified that the saloon car was booked by Dana Pani, Kannauj. The transaction was completed under the existing Commercial Saloon Booking Rules of Indian Railways.
The clarification aimed to address public and social media speculation regarding VIP privilege. Officials explained that saloon coaches are not reserved solely for government use and can be commercially hired by any private party through IRCTC.
This clarification confirms that the presence of the saloon coach on Train No. 12926 was a standard commercial arrangement rather than an allotment of special privilege to a public authority.
