IRCTC Quick Response Team Cracks Down on Unauthorised Train Catering Staff

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's (IRCTC) Quick Response Team has intensified surprise inspections on trains operating in the West Zone, detecting multiple violations involving unauthorised catering staff, missing uniforms, and invalid identification cards.

The drive is aimed at ensuring that only authorised and properly credentialed personnel provide catering services to train passengers.

During a check at Vadodara station on August 11, officials inspected Train No. 22938, where catering is operated by M/s Rathore Caterers. Two unauthorised vendors were found onboard without the prescribed uniforms and valid ID cards. Authorities initiated action against the service provider following the discovery.

In another inspection conducted at Surat station on Train No. 12480, operated by M/s Harish Kumar Arora, inspection teams found two catering staff members working without the required new uniforms and valid identification. The operator was instructed to take immediate corrective action.

Dr A.K. Singh, Public Relations Officer for IRCTC West Zone, stated that the organisation maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards violations that impact passenger service standards. He noted that regular surprise checks are being carried out across trains and railway stations to enforce compliance with official catering norms.
