Jayant Patil Demands Probe Into Felling of 6,000 Trees in Sindhudurg

Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader Jayant Patil has requested state government action against alleged illegal activities by a suspected land mafia in Dodamarg taluka of Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district. In a letter written to Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Patil alleged that more than 6,000 trees have been cut without official permission in the area.

Patil, a leader in the NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar, urged Minister Bawankule to order a detailed investigation into the matter. He highlighted that alongside the unauthorized tree-felling, illegal hill-cutting and other activities are being carried out in the environmentally sensitive region.

The Dodamarg taluka region in Sindhudurg district is known to be environmentally sensitive. According to Patil's letter, the felling of over 6,000 trees without prior authorization points to widespread activity by a suspected land mafia operating within the locality.

Seeking immediate state intervention, the NCP (SP) leader urged Revenue Minister Bawankule to initiate a thorough probe into the allegations, curb further destruction, and take firm action against those responsible for the illegal operations in Sindhudurg.
