Jewellery Worth Rs 1.64 Crore Stolen from Kharghar Shop

Unidentified thieves broke into Candier Lifestyle Jewellery on the busy CISF Road in Kharghar Sector 12 and escaped with diamonds, gold, and platinum jewellery worth over Rs 1.64 crore, along with Rs 30,000 in cash.

The burglary came to light on Monday morning, raising security concerns in the area. The jewellery store had been locked and shut at around 9:30 pm on August 10, after which the staff members left for home. When employees returned to the premises at around 10:30 am on August 11, they discovered that one side of the shop's shutter had been pried open.

Upon entering the store, the staff found the cash counter open, with laptop wires and other materials scattered across the space. Out of the seven jewellery counters inside the showroom, three had been targeted by the intruders.

According to the police, the burglars stole 139 pieces of diamond jewellery valued at Rs 68,91,779, 27 pieces of gold jewellery worth Rs 15,57,379, and 48 pieces of platinum jewellery worth Rs 79,55,817. With the Rs 30,000 taken in cash, the total value of the stolen property amounted to Rs 1,64,34,975.

Police officials suspect that the break-in was coordinated in advance. A Kharghar police officer noted that prima facie, the burglary appeared to have been carried out in a planned manner, adding that investigators have collected CCTV footage from the surrounding vicinity and are analysing it to identify the suspects and map out their entry and escape routes before and after the crime.

A formal case has been registered against unidentified individuals for burglary. Special police teams have been formed to track down and apprehend the suspects, while officers continue to examine camera footage from nearby commercial establishments and surrounding roads.
