Joint Task Force Formed to Address Illegal Parking and Drug Activity Near Nerul Station

Navi Mumbai civic and police authorities have ordered the formation of a joint task force to tackle persistent illegal parking, drug activity, and mounting safety concerns around Nerul railway station, following a high-level coordination meeting held on September 3.

The review meeting took place at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters in Belapur. Navi Mumbai Mayor Sujata Suraj Patil attended the session alongside senior civic officials and police officers to assess security challenges in the area.

The intervention came after commuters voiced strong resentment over deteriorating law and order and civic issues surrounding Nerul railway station and neighbouring transit hubs ahead of the festive rush.

Key issues raised at the meeting included persistent unauthorised vehicle parking, drug-related nuisance, and alleged narcotics peddling near the station precinct, which have created significant safety hazards for daily passengers.

To restore order, the newly mandated joint civic-police task force has been tasked with boosting security measures and conducting sustained night patrols across the transit areas.
