Kalyan-Badlapur Rail Expansion Achieves 52% Progress Toward 2028 Goal

The Kalyan-Badlapur 3rd and 4th line project under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project-3A (MUTP-3A) has reached 52 per cent physical progress, the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) announced on Sunday.

The capacity augmentation project along the Kalyan and Badlapur corridor was sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1,510 crore. It is targeted for completion in 2028 on the Central Railway network.

According to the MRVC, significant construction progress has been recorded across the corridor. The project is designed to expand track infrastructure along the busy suburban route.

The development of the additional lines is aimed at easing track congestion and improving operational fluidity across the Central Railway suburban system.
