Kalyan Children Craft Eco-Friendly Shadu Clay Ganesha Idols Ahead of Festival

Children in Kalyan created eco-friendly Lord Ganesha idols using traditional shadu clay at a special hands-on workshop held ahead of Ganeshotsav to promote environmental responsibility.

The workshop was jointly organised by Shri Tisai Pratishthan Kalyan and Deep Arts, under the guidance of artist Deepali Pandey. The initiative drew enthusiastic participation from local children, who learned how to shape their own idols while understanding the importance of celebrating the festival without causing environmental harm.

During the session, participants received practical demonstrations and step-by-step training in idol-making. They were guided through various stages of the craft, starting from molding and shaping the raw shadu clay to adding finer details and completing the final form of the deity.

Local MLA Sulabha Ganpat Gaikwad attended the programme to encourage the young participants. Gaikwad noted that the young artists used their devotion, imagination, and skill to transform shadu clay into eco-friendly idols, commending them for combining creativity with environmental consciousness.

Organisers stressed that using eco-friendly materials such as shadu clay helps reduce water pollution and environmental damage caused during idol immersion at the end of the festival. The workshop aimed to motivate children and their families to embrace sustainable and responsible practices during the upcoming festive season while maintaining traditional cultural values and worship practices.

At the conclusion of the event, MLA Sulabha Ganpat Gaikwad distributed participation certificates to all the children who took part in the workshop.
