Kalyan Police Find Baby Safe in Varanasi After Mother Fakes Kidnapping

A 21-year-old mother's complaint that her six-month-old infant was kidnapped from beneath the flyover outside Kalyan railway station has been exposed as a hoax by the Mahatma Phule Police. Investigators revealed that the child, Aryan, was never in Kalyan and was instead staying safely with his maternal grandparents in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

The case initially triggered widespread panic across Kalyan after the mother, Roshni Suraj Sahu, approached the police station. Roshni claimed she had left her husband following a domestic dispute in Vapi, Gujarat, and travelled to Kalyan to meet a friend.

According to her complaint, she arrived late at night and had no place to stay, leading her to sleep under the flyover near the railway station with her infant in her lap. She claimed she woke up the next morning to find both her baby and her mobile phone stolen.

Due to the seriousness of the allegation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Atul Zende and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ashok Honmane formed five special teams to launch an extensive manhunt.

However, investigators scanning CCTV footage from Kalyan railway station noticed a major contradiction. The footage clearly showed Roshni arriving in Kalyan alone, with no infant in her possession, exposing her kidnapping narrative as false.

During subsequent interrogation, police discovered that Roshni had left six-month-old Aryan with her parents in Varanasi before travelling to Maharashtra.

Senior Police Inspector Baliram Singh Pardeshi of the Mahatma Phule Police Station confirmed that a police team reached Varanasi on Sunday morning, secured the child after completing legal procedures, and is bringing him back to Kalyan.

The police are now investigating the motive behind the conspiracy and false complaint, exploring whether it was linked to the domestic dispute. Authorities plan to question Roshni and her family members thoroughly.
