Kamothe Man Killed and Daughter Injured in Sai Siddhi Apartment Ceiling Collapse

A 45-year-old man died and his young daughter was injured after a bedroom ceiling slab collapsed inside their apartment in Kamothe, Navi Mumbai, during the early hours of Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The fatal incident occurred at the Sai Siddhi Apartment, located in Sector 10, Kamothe, during a period of continuous heavy rainfall in the area.

The deceased resident has been identified as 45-year-old Suraj Prakash Lokhande. According to reports, a portion of the reinforced concrete ceiling inside his bedroom suddenly gave way and crashed down on him.

The impact of the falling reinforced concrete slab proved fatal for Lokhande. His young daughter, who was also present in the room during the collapse, sustained injuries in the incident.

Following the collapse, the local police were notified of the event. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident at the Sai Siddhi Apartment to determine the factors that led to the ceiling failure.

The fatal collapse occurred amidst continuous heavy rainfall that has been active across Navi Mumbai. The heavy rains coincided with the sudden failure of the residential ceiling slab in Sector 10.

At this stage, police have not shared additional details regarding the severity of the daughter's injuries or the specific condition of the apartment building. The investigation into the structural collapse and the death of Suraj Prakash Lokhande is currently being handled by the local police.
