Kausa-Mumbra Delegation Demands Arrest of Nazia Elahi Khan From Thane Police

On Thursday, a high-level delegation from the Jamiat Ulama Kausa-Mumbra met with Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare to submit a detailed memorandum demanding the immediate arrest of Delhi resident Nazia Elahi Khan. The delegation raised concerns over alleged derogatory remarks made by Khan targeting Prophet Muhammad and Ummul Momineen Hazrat Aisha Siddiqua, which have caused widespread resentment in the community.

The meeting took place following the registration of multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) against the accused across various police stations in Thane district, including Mumbra, as well as in other parts of Maharashtra.

The delegation was led by Jamiat Ulama Kausa-Mumbra President Maulana Abdul Wahab Qasmi. The group acted under the direct instructions of Maulana Halimullah Qasmi, who serves as the state president of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra.

During the discussion, the representatives highlighted the growing anxiety and resentment within the Muslim community regarding the delay in taking action against Khan. The delegation urged the Thane Police to coordinate swiftly with other relevant law enforcement agencies and jurisdictional police departments to ensure the accused is apprehended without further delay.

In addition to demanding an immediate arrest, the delegation requested that a fast-track investigation be initiated to guarantee stringent legal action. Speaking to media representatives after the meeting, Maulana Abdul Wahab Qasmi emphasized that the honor and dignity of the Prophet are central to the Islamic faith. He also appealed to the government to enact stricter laws to curb derogatory remarks against holy and religious figures in order to maintain communal harmony.

Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare assured the delegation that the police department is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness. He promised that an impartial, swift, and lawful investigation into the case would be conducted.
