Kavad Yatra Inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park Sparks Environmental Outrage

Around 25 to 30 people entered Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) on August 28 to perform religious rituals, including a Kavad Yatra, inside a protected river and water body.

The incident has sparked significant criticism and concern among environmentalists and nature lovers over the alleged violation of environmental laws and established court restrictions governing activities within the protected forest area.

Visuals and recordings from the park showed the group conducting the rituals directly within the boundaries of SGNP's protected river and natural water body.
