KDMC Fines Titwala Housing Society Rs 1 Lakh For Dumping Garbage In Open

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has penalised a housing project in the Titwala area of Kalyan-Dombivli, Maharashtra, with a fine of Rs 1 lakh. The civic body took action against the housing society for failing to process its solid waste and instead dumping garbage in the open, officials reported on 14 July, 2026.
The KDMC had received multiple complaints from residents regarding the waste management practices at this specific Titwala-based housing society. The complaints highlighted that the housing project's garbage collection and waste processing facility was frequently non-functional and routinely remained shut.
Upon receiving these complaints, civic authorities conducted an inspection of the housing society's premises. The inspection revealed that the facility meant for processing solid waste was indeed non-functional, confirming the allegations of improper waste management and open dumping.
Following the inspection, the KDMC imposed the Rs 1 lakh fine on the housing project. Along with the penalty, the civic body issued a reminder to all residential societies in the municipal area, reiterating that they must adhere to solid waste management rules.
According to the KDMC, housing societies are required to ensure proper waste segregation at the source. The civic body emphasised that these residential complexes must also maintain fully functional waste processing facilities on their properties to prevent the illegal dumping of garbage in open spaces.
