Kenyan National Arrested in Santacruz East for Living Illegally in India for 26 Years

The Vakola Police arrested a 61-year-old Kenyan national who was found living illegally in a chawl at Nehru Road in Santacruz East, Mumbai. The individual, identified as Osino Omandi, had reportedly been residing in the country without valid documentation for 26 years.

The arrest was executed after the Vakola Police's Anti-Terrorism Cell received specific information regarding a foreign national who had been living in the local chawl for several years.

Following up on the tip, police personnel conducted inquiries and questioned Omandi. During the investigation, officers found a Kenyan passport in his possession.

Upon verifying his travel documents, the police discovered that Omandi's visa had expired in the year 2000. He had continued to reside in India illegally without the required documentation since his visa lapsed.

Following his arrest, the Vakola Police contacted the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the Special Branch (SB) II of the Mumbai Police. These authorities have been informed to initiate the official process for deporting Omandi back to Kenya.

The police action was carried out under the direct supervision of senior inspector Prakash Khandekar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nimit Goyal.
