Kirit Somaiya Flags Discrepancies in Mumbai Electoral Roll Data, Demands Review

Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Kirit Somaiya has alleged significant discrepancies in electoral data released by election authorities across Mumbai, demanding an immediate review and necessary corrections to the figures.

In a formal letter dated August 16 addressed to Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer S. Chockalingam, Somaiya raised questions regarding the data compiled during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters' list.

Somaiya specifically pointed out contradictions between the reported rates of voter form distribution and the tally of electors classified as untraceable throughout Mumbai's electoral districts.

In addition to the figures on untraceable voters, the former parliamentarian questioned the reported statistics concerning form distribution and deletions carried out from the electoral rolls due to deaths.

Somaiya shared the letter on social media platform X, urging the state election leadership to review the Special Intensive Revision data and carry out prompt rectifications across the affected electoral rolls in Mumbai.
