Lookout Notice Issued for Dubai-Based Husband in Ghatkopar Woman's Murder

A lookout circular has been issued against a Dubai-based man, Pramod Ganji, two days after his mother and four others were arrested and remanded in police custody for allegedly murdering his 35-year-old wife, Sapna, in Mumbai's Ghatkopar neighbourhood.

According to the police, Pramod's passport has already been impounded by Dubai authorities following an earlier domestic violence complaint lodged by Sapna.

Pant Nagar police stated that Pramod's mother, Dhanalaxmi Ganji, admitted during questioning that she harboured severe grudges against Sapna. The victim had previously filed two formal police complaints against the family, raising allegations of domestic violence, harassment, and unnatural sex.

Dhanalaxmi also claimed to investigators that Sapna neglected her son, Divansh, who remained under Dhanalaxmi's care. She further told the police that Sapna had recently begun drinking heavily and alleged that she suspected her daughter-in-law of having an illicit relationship. These issues triggered frequent disputes between the two women.

The confrontation escalated on August 17, when Dhanalaxmi visited Sapna's residence at Triveni Building. Police said Dhanalaxmi allegedly found Sapna under the influence of alcohol, leading to a heated argument. Dhanalaxmi then contacted her former maid, Mangla Jadhav, who arrived at the flat shortly after.

Dhanalaxmi and four other accused individuals have been sent to police custody as Pant Nagar police continue their investigation into the murder.
