Maharashtra Allots 1,500 Acres in Haregaon to Nibe Group Without Tender

The Maharashtra state government has bypassed the e-tender bidding process to lease 1,500 acres of agricultural land in Haregaon village, Ahilyanagar, to the Mumbai-headquartered Nibe Group. The decision was formalised through a government resolution issued by the state revenue department.

The land has been leased at a rate of ₹50,000 per acre per year—amounting to approximately ₹4,167 per month per acre—subject to a 3% annual increase in rent. The initial lease period is set for 49 years, with a provision for renewal for up to an additional 49 years. The firm has also been exempted from paying a security deposit after agreeing to pay three years of lease rent in advance.

The allotment was approved on June 23, 2026, by a cabinet sub-committee headed by State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The land belongs to the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation Limited (MSFCL), a body established to cultivate and manage 85,564 acres of land acquired under the Maharashtra Agricultural Land (Ceiling on Holdings) Act, 1961. MSFCL has also approved the leasing proposal.

Currently, 900 acres of the 1,500-acre tract are under cultivation with standing crops. The government resolution directed MSFCL to hand over possession of the land to the company after the current crops are harvested. The resolution mandates that the company must begin using the land for its designated purpose within two years of taking possession.

Under the terms of the agreement, the land cannot be transferred, pledged, or mortgaged without prior government approval. If any conditions are violated, the state retains the right to reclaim the land without paying compensation. The resolution also states that if MSFCL decides to sell the land in the future, priority will be given to Nibe Group.

Revenue officials stated that the project involves the manufacturing of defence-related products under work orders from the defence ministry. On May 23, 2026, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated Nibe Group's defence manufacturing complex and ammunition park in Shirdi.
