Maharashtra Approves Rs 11.26 Crore Sovereign AI Package for Departments

The Maharashtra government has approved a two-year financial package of Rs 11.26 crore to deploy sovereign artificial intelligence solutions from Sarvam AI across state government departments in Mumbai and across Maharashtra. The official approval was granted through a Government Resolution.

As part of the approved initiative, the state government will deploy Indus, a sovereign artificial intelligence workspace developed by Sarvam AI. The platform is scheduled to be implemented for approximately 2,500 state government users across various administrative departments.

The financial layout for the project spans two years, with an indicative cost of Rs 5.63 crore allocated for the first year of operation. This forms part of the total Rs 11.26 crore budget earmarked for the complete two-year outlay specified in the Government Resolution.

The rollout of the Indus workspace represents a targeted initiative to incorporate sovereign AI technology directly into government department operations, serving state personnel under the two-year approved budget.
