Maharashtra Auto and Taxi Drivers Given One Year to Learn Marathi, Says Fadnavis

Auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers in Mumbai have been given up to one year to learn functional Marathi, according to Maharashtra leader Devendra Fadnavis.

Fadnavis stated that representatives from various auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers' organisations met with him regarding the language requirement for public transport operators in the state.

During the meeting, the union representatives expressed their support for the measure, agreeing with the requirement that individuals working in Mumbai should learn functional Marathi to serve passengers.

The decision grants drivers a one-year window to acquire functional knowledge of the state's official language.
