Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Rs 24.95 Crore for Beed District Sports Complex

The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday approved a revised estimate of ₹24.95 crore for the Beed District Sports Complex project in Beed district. The decision is aimed at expediting the long-pending development and providing international-standard sports infrastructure and modern training facilities for athletes in the region.

The project has a long history in the state's administrative pipeline. It initially received its administrative approval during the tenure of the then Deputy Chief Minister, the late Ajitdada Pawar. Since then, the proposal has been consistently pursued by the current Deputy Chief Minister, Sports Minister, and Beed Guardian Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, who helped secure the necessary clearances and financial sanctions.

Prior to the latest cabinet approval, the state had already released ₹8 crore for the initial phases of the sports complex. The project is designed to offer world-class athletic infrastructure and modern training systems specifically tailored for the youth of Beed district.

The newly approved revised estimate of ₹24.95 crore was prepared and submitted by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services. Before reaching the cabinet, the proposal was approved as a special case by the High-Level Committee of Secretaries. It was subsequently placed before the State Cabinet for final post-facto approval. Additionally, in accordance with a Government Resolution issued on March 31, 2026, a sum of ₹25 crore has already been released for the project.

Speaking on the development, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar emphasized the state government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure across Maharashtra. She stated that the government is focused on ensuring that young athletes from Beed district receive high-quality training facilities.

Pawar also highlighted that continuous efforts were made to remove various administrative and procedural hurdles that had delayed the project. She expressed confidence that the Cabinet’s latest decision will accelerate the remaining construction work on the sports complex and provide a major boost to sports development in Beed.
