Maharashtra CET Cell Extends LLB Option Form Deadline as 232 Colleges Added

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell in Mumbai has extended the deadline for candidates to submit their college preferences for three-year and five-year LLB admissions. The extension comes after 232 additional law colleges were included in the centralised admission process.

The inclusion of these institutions has more than doubled the total number of participating law colleges from 149, when the option-form process started on August 5, to 381. The expansion has added 15,540 seats, raising the total availability across both law programmes to 31,600 seats.

The increase in seats follows an August 10 notification issued by the Bar Council of India (BCI), which granted conditional approval to existing law colleges for the 2026-27 academic year.

Under the revised schedule, candidates seeking admission to the three-year LLB course have been given until August 16 to submit their preference forms. The deadline for five-year LLB candidates is August 15. Candidates who have already submitted their choices have been permitted to unlock their option forms, modify their preferences, and resubmit them.

According to data from the CET Cell, a total of 46,365 candidates have completed and submitted their college preferences so far. This includes 33,214 applicants for the three-year law programme and 13,151 applicants for the five-year course.
