Maharashtra Electoral Roll Cuts Over 2.06 Crore Names, Nalasopara Tops List

More than 2.06 crore names from Maharashtra's previous electoral roll have been excluded in the newly released draft list following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, with Nalasopara in Palghar district topping the list of voter exclusions.

According to the Chief Electoral Office, urban and rapidly expanding assembly constituencies accounted for some of the highest numbers of excluded voters across the state.

The authorities classified the excluded entries under several distinct categories. These include deceased persons, voters who were found to be already enrolled elsewhere, permanently shifted residents, and individuals listed as untraceable or absent, along with other administrative categories.

The exclusions were finalised as part of the state-wide draft roll published following the completion of the revision process.
