Maharashtra Environment Dept Partners With Mumbai Climate Week 2027

The Maharashtra environment and climate change department will serve as the nodal government partner for the second edition of Mumbai Climate Week, scheduled to be held from February 23 to 26, 2027, at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The department signed a Memorandum of Understanding on September 2 with Project Mumbai, the organisation that hosts the climate week. The partnership aims to enhance coordination between the state government and various stakeholders engaged in climate action across the city.

Under the agreement, the environment department will act as the nodal partner agency representing the Maharashtra government, while also serving as a knowledge partner to Project Mumbai. It will facilitate coordination across other key government agencies and civic bodies, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Additionally, the department will arrange time-bound meetings connecting Mumbai Climate Week theme leads with relevant state government ministers, commissioners, and secretaries. A central objective of the collaboration is linking summit discussions and thematic research directly to government agencies executing work on the ground.

The upcoming 2027 edition of Mumbai Climate Week will focus on key environmental challenges, including urban resilience, food systems, energy transition, biodiversity, and circularity.
