Maharashtra FDA busts illegal MTP kit racket in Nagpur and Solapur, eight booked

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has uncovered an illegal racket involving the purchase and sale of medical abortion kits across Nagpur and Solapur districts, officials announced.

The regulatory authority registered cases against eight individuals, including directors of the online marketplace IndiaMART, following the crackdown. The action was taken after separate operations led to the seizure of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) kits alongside other unauthorized medicines.

Following the operation, FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe issued a stern warning to the public against purchasing MTP kits or any abortion-related medications without a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner.

Authorities confirmed that enforcement actions and further investigations into the illegal distribution network are underway across the state.
